hatter1999 Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 Hi Guys, weird problem. Had a new stereo fitted and the cruise control stopped working, BUT if I turn the Stereo off the Cruise Control works again. Turn the stereo back on and hey the cruise control stops working again. Any ideas? I have looked at the wiring and it all seems ok as all that has been used is an adapter to by pass the fitted amp. Car is a 1997 Galaxy Ghia 2.3. HELP!! Quote

Turn the stereo back on and hey the cruise control stops working again. Any ideas? By the sound of it you had it fitted by someone else? if so take it back and get them to put it right! you can prove the link between the new radio and the fault by switching the radio on and off :) so the cause must be in what they have done to install the new radio! hatter1999 Posted September 4, 2005 Author Report Posted September 4, 2005 The Stereo was fitted by a mate not by a supplier. The lead used was a autoleads amp by pass lead for that model. Nothing was cut, just the old factory fit 2007rds radio was unplugged, factory fit amp unplugged and the new adapter plugged to the loom. So any ideas of why?? I just can't see how or why the radio affects the cruise control. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 The cruise control and the radio both use the gala pulse signal, the cruise control to know the speed of the vehicle and the radio for the auto volume up function (the radio gets louder the faster you get) Quote
seatkid Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Radio 2 is now compulsary if you want to cruise... Quote
hatter1999 Posted September 5, 2005 Author Report Posted September 5, 2005 ok, so it sounds lke the Gala Pulse that is causing it, any idea of how to get both the radio and cruise to to work independenty?? Which wire is causing the problem?? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 IIRC it is purple with a black stripe, but I could be wrong....... Quote
hatter1999 Posted September 5, 2005 Author Report Posted September 5, 2005 kewl, i will have a look at the loom. So basically just disconnect that from the radio? or do i have to bypass somehow? Quote
Masked Marauder Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I would disconnect it if it is connected... Quote
chromedome Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 It's a thin purple wire on it's own connector by itself. Like suggested, I would try disconnecting it. Quote
